BRONX, NY – A tragic series of events unfolded on the Cross Bronx Expressway near Webster Avenue, resulting in multiple vehicle collisions and a fatality. Authorities were called to the scene in the early hours of February 11, where they discovered a calamitous accident involving four vehicles, an injured pedestrian, and two injured drivers. The 28-year-old male pedestrian was declared dead at the location, a 24-year-old female driver suffered a minor arm injury, and a 22-year-old male driver was critically injured and taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.

Investigations revealed that the accident was initiated when a 2012 GMC was hit from behind by a 2015 Mercedes Benz. A bystander, attempting to aid, was subsequently hit by a 2013 BMW, resulting in his fatal projection over a barrier onto the expressway’s opposite lanes. The BMW then collided with a 2018 Honda, propelling it into an unidentified tractor-trailer, which, along with another vehicle involved in the pedestrian’s subsequent strike, fled the scene. The 22-year-old driver of the Honda, Richard Lue, succumbed to his injuries later that day.

In a related development on March 12, 33-year-old Anyelo Velez Rodriguez was apprehended within the 43rd Precinct’s jurisdiction. Residing at 1992 Davidson Avenue, Bronx, NY, Rodriguez faces two counts of manslaughter and two counts of criminally negligent homicide. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is handling the intricate investigation.

On Tuesday, there was a high-profile road rage incident on the Cross Bronx Expressway that saw a man exit his vehicle and assault another driver, then sped away, striking the driver with his vehicle.
