COLUMBUS, OH — Dallas Lowery, a 33-year-old man from Ohio, has been found guilty of several charges, including murder and domestic violence, in connection with the 2022 death of Heather Chapman, the mother of his child. The Franklin County jury delivered the verdict after reviewing evidence that showcased the tragic events leading to Chapman’s untimely demise.

On February 22, 2022, Columbus police were dispatched to a residence on Melrose Ave., where they discovered Chapman with a fatal gunshot wound. Initially reported by Lowery as a suicide, the investigation quickly unveiled suspicious circumstances, leading detectives to question his account of the events.

The court records indicate that Chapman, who was 2 months postpartum at the time, was left in the house with her newborn child for over an hour before Lowery contacted the authorities. Lowery, who has a history of felony convictions, was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.

Although acquitted of aggravated murder, which would have required proof of premeditation, Lowery’s conviction on the murder and associated charges could result in a life sentence. He remains incarcerated, awaiting sentencing for his role in the tragic loss of Heather Chapman.
