SILVER SPRING, MD—A routine errand run turned into an unexpected windfall for a Montgomery County family last weekend when a man purchased a $250,000 winning scratch-off for his mother. The fortunate event unfolded after the son stopped at the Casa Blanca Sunoco in Silver Spring to fill his gas tank and decided to buy scratch-offs.

Choosing the $250,000 Cash Winfall games due to a family member’s previous win, the scratch-offs were played at home, revealing a grand prize win with the “money bag win all” symbol. This symbol indicated that all 25 prizes on the ticket were won, totaling $250,000. Initially believed to be a mere $250 win, the actual value of the prize left the family ecstatic.

After securing the winning ticket in a safe, the family visited Lottery headquarters to claim their prize. The winner plans to use her newfound fortune to pay down her mortgage and settle some bills. The lottery game, launched in February, still offers multiple high-value prizes, including three additional $250,000 top prizes.

The Casa Blanca Sunoco, where the winning ticket was purchased, is also celebrating with a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize scratch-off.
