Somerset County Grandfather Wins $50,000 Pick 5 Prize

An Eastern Shore grandfather from Somerset County is basking in the glow of a $50,000 windfall he secured by playing Pick 5 back in February.

The jubilant winner attributed his stroke of luck to his new car’s license plate number, which he decided to incorporate into his lottery gameplay. Despite facing a time crunch due to his night shift job, he managed to squeeze in the purchase of his Pick 5 numbers at Crisfield Oceanic, a familiar haunt for his lottery endeavors.

“It was a close call,” he recounted with a grin, recalling the hectic moments before securing his ticket. “But thank goodness I made it in time.”

His decision to extend his gameplay to Pick 5 proved fortuitous, as he astoundingly matched all five numbers, landing him the $50,000 prize. The fortunate revelation came later, while he and his wife were visiting family, using the Lottery App to confirm their good fortune.

Overwhelmed with joy, the grandfather expressed plans to retire in the summer, with a portion of his winnings earmarked for his retirement fund. Additionally, he intends to treat himself and his wife to a well-deserved vacation. And, in a testament to his unwavering optimism, he’s already incorporating the license plate number of his recently acquired vehicle into his ongoing lottery strategy.

The winning ticket was purchased at Crisfield Oceanic, situated at 55 Richardson Avenue in Crisfield, which will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for their role in facilitating the fortuitous win.
