FAIR LAWN, NJ – The Fair Lawn Police Department was called to the scene of a dramatic incident where a vehicle left the roadway and burst into flames. The event unfolded on Saddle River Road and prompted immediate police response.

Reports of a vehicle being driven recklessly before it veered off the road into a park area behind a residential property were received earlier.

Upon their arrival, officers found the vehicle fully ablaze with the driver still inside. After exiting the vehicle, the driver claimed a child was in the back seat, leading officers to act swiftly to verify the claim. It was quickly determined that no child was present in the vehicle, and the individual who fled into a nearby home was detained.

The child mentioned by the driver was found to be safe at another location. The driver was subsequently taken to New Bridge Medical Center for evaluation, with charges pending based on the investigation’s findings. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the response but were treated at the scene.
