ROCKLAND, MA – A disturbing incident at a Massachusetts hotel now serving as a housing facility for asylum seekers has led to the arrest and charging of Cory Alvarez, a 26-year-old Haitian immigrant. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Alvarez is being held without bail after his apprehension by police in Rockland.

The charge stems from a rape and attack on a 15-year-old girl inside one of the hotel rooms last week. Law enforcement responded to a call at the former Comfort Inn hotel on Hingham Street shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim and promptly transported her to South Shore Hospital for treatment.
