PITTSBURGH, PA — Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced the arrest of Jamal Bailey, a 28-year-old man from Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, now in custody in Nevada. Bailey had been on the run since April 2020 after failing to appear for his trial, which involved two firearms charges and a drug charge.

A nationwide bench warrant was issued for Bailey in May 2020, describing him as a dangerous fugitive due to a violation of bond conditions. Detectives from Pittsburgh developed leads in October of the previous year that Bailey was residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following cooperation with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, efforts to capture Bailey were intensified despite his attempts to avoid arrest by frequently changing addresses in the Las Vegas area.

Bailey’s apprehension came to fruition yesterday, marking the end of a nearly two-year manhunt. He is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center, awaiting extradition back to Allegheny County to face the charges against him.
