WASHINGTON, DC – A tragic shooting incident occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in two fatalities and five injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The incident was reported around 3 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and P Street Northwest, close to the Kennedy Recreation Center.

The MPD has identified the deceased as 32-year-old Anthony Brown of Washington, DC, and 32-year-old Jay Lucks of Baltimore. The wounded victims, all adults, have been transported to local hospitals. Their conditions remain undisclosed.

Details regarding the perpetrator or the circumstances leading to the shooting, which took place roughly twelve blocks northeast of the White House, have yet to be clarified. As of now, no arrests have been made or suspects named in connection to the event.

The investigation into the motive is ongoing, with preliminary findings suggesting that the shooting was an intentional act by one or more individuals targeting the victims. To encourage public cooperation, the MPD has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll emphasized the importance of community assistance, urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Metropolitan Police Department.
