Reward Offered for Information on Suspect in Fatal Shooting in District Heights

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has issued a call for public assistance following a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 27-year-old Jessica Somerville of Suitland. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, and a reward of up to $25,000 is now being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case.

The shooting took place at approximately 2:15 am on March 17, 2024, in the 5800 block of Silver Hill Road in District Heights. Officers responding to the scene found Somerville in a parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound. Surveillance footage released by detectives shows two male suspects inside a fast food restaurant moments before the shooting unfolded in the parking lot outside.

Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of the suspects or the incident to come forward. Recognizing the importance of community assistance in solving this case, detectives are working to establish a motive and are hopeful that public tips can lead to a breakthrough.
