Arrest Made in Delaware Pizzeria Armed Robbery

WILMINGTON, DE – Nigel Sykes, 33, from Wilmington, has been arrested by the Delaware State Police in connection with an armed robbery that took place at Pat’s Pizza earlier this month.

On the evening of March 10, at around 10:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to the scene at 1815 Philadelphia Pike following reports of an armed robbery. An initial investigation uncovered that a suspect, described as a black male armed with a handgun, confronted an employee during closing time, demanding money from the business. The suspect also severed the landline telephone connection and took the employee’s cell phone before escaping with an undisclosed sum of money and the cell phone, heading south on Philadelphia Pike.

Detectives from Troop 2 Robbery Unit identified Nigel Sykes as the suspect through their investigation and secured an arrest warrant. Sykes was apprehended on March 19 at the Plummer Center, located at 38 Todds Lane in Wilmington, and subsequently charged with armed robbery and related offenses. Following his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Sykes was detained at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $106,000 cash bond.
