D.C. Man Wins $50K Jackpot with Longtime Lottery Number

Washington, D.C. – A Washington, D.C. man overcame past disappointment to win $50,000 in the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 draw. After missing out once by not purchasing a ticket, he bought one this time, securing the jackpot with his steadfast number 47893.

For over a decade, this retired District of Columbia government worker has been faithful to his five-digit number, a loyalty that finally paid off in the March 20 midday drawing. His previous regret of watching his number win without a ticket turned into triumph. This win lets him repay his vehicle loan and bolster his bank savings.

He purchased the winning ticket at Camp Springs Royal Farms #204 in Prince George’s County, which will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in the win.
