D.C. Police Arrest Suspect Following Shooting and Chase

Washington, D.C. – A rapid response from the Metropolitan Police Department led to the arrest of Traquon McCalip, a 20-year-old man, after a shooting incident in Northeast D.C. This happened yesterday at around 11:47 a.m. in the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue.

An altercation between the victim and McCalip escalated when McCalip displayed a firearm and subsequently shot the victim. He then fled the scene in a vehicle. Police quickly arrived, securing a firearm and ensuring the victim received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after, police identified and pursued the suspect’s vehicle, which eventually halted in the 1800 block of Bladensburg Road, NE. McCalip was apprehended without further incident.


The suspect faces charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Fleeing from Law Enforcement Officers, and Carrying a Pistol without a License, underscoring the department’s commitment to curbing violence and ensuring public safety.
