Delaware State Police Apprehend New Castle Man After Pursuit in Stolen Ford F-150

Najee McNeil, 25, of New Castle, Delaware, was arrested by Delaware State Police following a pursuit involving a stolen Ford F-150 in Bear.

On March 18, 2024, at around 11:34 a.m., a trooper responded to a report of a stolen silver Ford F-150 in the area of Bear Christiana Road and Newton Road. The trooper spotted the stolen truck turning onto eastbound Songsmith Drive and attempted a traffic stop. However, the Ford fled at high speed southbound on Bear Christiana Road towards Pulaski Highway.

During the pursuit, the Ford continued to drive recklessly, fleeing westbound on Pulaski Highway before the suspect abandoned the vehicle on Linn Court and fled on foot. After an extensive search, McNeil was located by troopers and New Castle County Police Officers in front of a residence on Rawlings Drive and taken into custody without incident.

A search of McNeil’s person revealed the stolen Ford’s key, approximately 1.8 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. A computer inquiry also revealed that McNeil did not possess a valid driver’s license.

McNeil was subsequently charged with multiple offenses, including possession of stolen property, drug possession, and driving without a valid license. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $9,500 unsecured bond.
