Newark Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead of Heavy Rainfall

SNN Weather Center

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has issued a traffic advisory warning drivers to expect potential flooding on city streets due to anticipated heavy rainfall.

Rainfall is forecasted to begin on Saturday, commencing around 6 a.m. and lasting until approximately 6 p.m., with accumulations ranging from 1 to 3 inches. There’s a possibility of continued rain into Saturday night.

Motorists are advised to avoid listed locations prone to flooding during inclement weather. The Department of Public Safety is actively coordinating responses to various weather-related incidents, including burglar alarms and flooding conditions, through collaboration among Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management personnel.

Residents are also reminded to secure outdoor furniture, awnings, and other loose items to prevent potential damage. Additionally, for fire safety measures, flashlights are recommended over candles in the event of power outages caused by the weather.
