Suspect Charged in Murder of Convenience Store Owner in Prince George’s County

Anthony Edward Stevens, 48, of Capitol Heights, has been identified and charged in connection with the murder of convenience store owner Mohammad Hanif, 50, of Annandale, VA.

On March 5, 2024, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man at a business in the 900 block of Larchmont Avenue in Capitol Heights. Hanif was found inside the store with head trauma and was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 8, 2024.

Investigation revealed that Stevens attacked Hanif while stealing items from the store. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Hanif suffered blunt force injuries to his head.


Stevens faces charges of first and second-degree murder and is currently in custody with the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
