Arrest Made in Connection with the Murder of Taty’ana Zakiyyah Cooks

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – The Prince William County Police Department announced the arrest of Brendon Devon White, 30, in relation to the murder of 30-year-old Taty’ana Zakiyyah Cooks. Cooks’ body was discovered in a trash collection truck during a search operation in Prince William County on Friday, March 22.

The investigation was initiated as a missing person case after Cooks failed to pick up her child from daycare on Thursday, March 21, sparking concern among her family members. Police learned during the investigation that Cooks’ car had been used by White, her former partner and cohabitant, and was located in Hampton Roads/Newport News City, while her personal belongings remained at her home in Woodbridge.

Authorities, while investigating near Cooks’ residence on Friday, intercepted and inspected a trash collection vehicle, leading to the grim discovery of Cooks’ body. Subsequent findings implicated White in the death of Cooks, resulting in his capture by Newport News police. Brendon Devon White now faces murder charges and is due for arraignment.
