Baltimore Office Building Scene of HazMat Incident on Lexington Street

BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) units are currently managing a hazardous material incident in the 200 block of E. Lexington Street and the 200 block of N. Guilford Avenue. Suppression companies were dispatched following the report of an alarm in a seven-story office building. Upon entry and air quality assessment, elevated carbon monoxide levels were detected.

Firefighters have initiated horizontal ventilation procedures to remove carbon monoxide from the building. BCFD is collaborating with Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Department of General Services (DGS).

Active road closures on Guilford Avenue and E. Lexington Street are in place due to the operation of fire apparatus, and will remain until BGE completes assessments and remediation.
