Police Confirm Missing New Jersey Man Found Dead in Sunset Lake

ROXBURY, NJ – In a somber announcement, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Roxbury Police Chief Dean Adone confirmed that Altariq Hickson, a 20-year-old man reported missing earlier this month, has been found deceased in Sunset Lake.

Hickson was last seen at his Roxbury home on March 6, 2024, and was officially reported missing six days later. The Roxbury Police Department initiated a missing person’s investigation immediately.

His belongings were found at Mine Hill Beach, prompting a comprehensive search by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management. The New Jersey State Police’s dive into Sunset Lake on March 19 led to the discovery of a body, presumed to be Hickson’s.
