Armed Man in Police Standoff Barricades Himself in Cresaptown Home With Toddler

CRESAPTOWN, MD – The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office has reported an arrest following a firearm discharge incident in Cresaptown. On March 27, at approximately 11:10 PM, deputies responded to the 15000 block of Packard Drive after reports of a subject firing both a long rifle and a handgun.

Although initial attempts to contact the suspect at his home were unsuccessful, evidence of firearm discharge was found.

Later, around 12:30 AM on March 28, a single gunshot was reported in the same area. Law enforcement successfully established contact with Mr. Jeremiah Wesley Matthew Rader, leading to his arrest after a brief barricade situation.


A female and a toddler were also present in the home during the incident, with Maryland State Police assisting at the scene.

Mr. Jeremiah Wesley Matthew Rader faces charges related to the incident.
