TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, NJ — A tragic motor vehicle accident occurred on the Black Horse Pike just west of High Bank Road, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. The Township of Hamilton Police Department was called to the scene on Wednesday, April 3rd, at around 2:15 PM following reports of the crash.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by 30-year-old Stephen Sirch of Voorhees, came into contact with a 2011 Honda Civic driven by 29-year-old Karina Castillo of Pine Hill. Following the collision, Castillo’s vehicle veered across the median into oncoming traffic and was hit by a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by 40-year-old Diana Hernandez-Ramos of Hammonton.
Karina Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene. Stephen Sirch was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Diana Hernandez-Ramos and two adult passengers also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. Additionally, a juvenile passenger was taken to Cooper University Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The accident caused significant traffic disruptions on the Black Horse Pike for several hours.
