GLENARDEN, MD—Nelson Ballard III, a 24-year-old from Landover, has been charged in connection with a shooting at a local gym in Glenarden. The incident, which occurred on April 11 around 8:30 PM, left one man critically injured.
Responding to the 9400 block of Ruby Lockhart Boulevard, Glenarden Police found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to a hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Gun Crimes Unit took over the investigation, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Ballard on April 17.
Investigations suggest the shooting stemmed from an argument during a basketball game. Ballard now faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and various weapons offenses. Authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact the Gun Crimes Unit.
