Atlantic City, NJ – Three juveniles were apprehended by the Atlantic City Police Department after being found in a stolen vehicle, thanks to assistance from the City’s Surveillance Center and Automated License Plate Readers.
On April 19, at 4:51 PM, Officers Riley Flynn and Casey Tomasello identified a stolen vehicle entering Atlantic City on Route 30, flagged by the department’s Automated License Plate Reader system. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Neptune, NJ. Despite an initial attempt by officers to pull over the vehicle, the driver fled, leading to the discontinuation of the pursuit for public safety reasons.
Surveillance Center operators promptly tracked down the stolen vehicle after it crashed at the intersection of Kentucky and Marmora Avenues. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the stolen vehicle had collided with a parked car and witnessed three male individuals escaping the scene. With the additional support of Officers Marquez Jones, Julian Monsalve, and William Harned, all three suspects were arrested.
A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, both from Galloway, NJ, faced charges of joyriding, receiving stolen property, eluding, and obstruction of justice. They were taken into custody. Furthermore, a 15-year-old male from Galloway, NJ, charged with joyriding, receiving stolen property, and obstruction of justice, was released to a parent’s custody following his arrest.
