Authorities are investigating the failed robbery of a Maywood jewelry store. The incident occurred at Diamond Fantasy on West Pleasant Avenue when two gunmen entered the store around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Two additional individuals served as lookouts outside during the incident. Despite the attempted robbery, no items were taken from the store, with the reasons for the failed theft remaining unclear at the moment.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and as of early Wednesday, no arrests have been made.
Law enforcement officials took several steps following the failed robbery. Police were able to recover a moped believed to be associated with the suspects.
They also detained and interviewed potential suspects, as well as collected statements and video footage from the area surrounding the store on West Pleasant Avenue. A resident in the locality shared a description of the moped rider, mentioning that the individual did not have a helmet, wore a blue face mask, and was armed.
