Investigation Underway After Fatal Crash Near Laurel

Laurel, DE – Delaware State Police have launched an investigation into a single-vehicle fatal crash that took place yesterday evening west of Laurel. The incident occurred at around 6:48 p.m. when a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling westbound on Sharptown Road at a high speed before veering off the road, striking a drainage ditch, and overturning after crashing into a utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Bloxom, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the crash scene, while the passenger was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Their identity remains undisclosed pending family notification. The roadway was closed for about four hours while authorities inspected the scene and cleared the area.
