Romeo, the Tallest Steer in the World, Resides in Oregon Sanctuary
NEW YORK, NY—Romeo, a six-year-old Holstein steer from Oregon, has been officially recognized as the tallest living steer, standing at an impressive 6 feet 4.5 inches (1.94 meters). His story is as remarkable as his stature, having been rescued at just 10 days old by the Welcome Home Animal Sanctuary in Creswell, Oregon.
Misty Moore, Romeo’s owner and the co-founder of the sanctuary, emphasizes the steer’s dramatic journey from a dairy farm where male calves are often considered byproducts. Moore describes Romeo’s rescue as a fate-defying moment that paved the way for a life defined by safety, compassion, and attention.
Romeo is celebrated not only for his record-breaking height but also for his gentle and sociable nature, often described as “the sanctuary’s biggest softie.” His daily routine includes social interactions and activities involving humans, adding a unique charm to the sanctuary’s daily tasks. As a true foodie, Romeo’s diet consists of 100 pounds of hay, extra grain, and treats like apples and bananas each day.
The sanctuary marked the certification of Romeo’s height with a celebration, offering him extra hugs and treats. They look forward to sharing his gentle and kind presence with the public, highlighting not just his size but also his role as a symbol of resilience and a testament to the power of kindness.

- $1 Million Scratch-Off Winner Celebrated in Armstrong County
Freeport, PA – Officials from the Pennsylvania Lottery presented a commemorative check to Karen Coffman, the winner of a $1 million Scratch-Off ticket, at the BP gas station where the winning ticket was sold.
Coffman, 61, of Armstrong County, won the top prize on a $1,000,000 Game Scratch-Off ticket purchased at BP (Radhe Oil Corporation) located at 222 Buffalo St. The retailer received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Coffman described her win as bittersweet, revealing that her husband, who passed away from a brain tumor two weeks after her win, had always believed she would hit a million-dollar jackpot. She recalled the moment of disbelief and excitement when she realized she had won, sharing her joy with the store clerk.
Having worked as a chef at a nursing home, Coffman is now retired. She occasionally bought Scratch-Off tickets at the same BP gas station, where she previously won $65,000 on a Scratch-Off ticket 14 years ago. Coffman plans to invest part of her prize and consider relocating to Florida to be closer to family and escape the winter weather.
"We're thrilled to present Karen with a commemorative check for $1 million," said Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne. "Her win highlights the support the Pennsylvania Lottery provides to programs for older Pennsylvanians."
The $1,000,000 Game Scratch-Off, which went on sale on December 27, 2022, is a $20 game offering top prizes of $1 million. Scratch-Offs are distributed randomly, and the Lottery only learns where winning tickets are sold after prizes are claimed.
