Chief Reilly, the 8th Police Chief in the history of Ramapo, began his law enforcement journey at the Orange County Police Academy in September 1984. He started his career with the Town of Woodbury Police Department in January 1985 before joining the Town of Ramapo Police Department in April 1987.
Throughout his tenure, Chief Reilly held various pivotal roles. In 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant, and in 2007, he was assigned to the Special Services Division, supervising Traffic Safety Officers, Community Police Officers, School Resource Officers, and DARE Officers. He also coordinated the Ramapo Police Youth Academy. His rise through the ranks continued with a promotion to Lieutenant in 2010, where he led the Patrol Division, and later to Captain in 2016, serving as Operations Commander overseeing the Patrol and Investigations Divisions. In 2019, he was appointed Chief of Staff, becoming the department's second in command before being named Chief in 2021.
Chief Reilly's close collaboration with the Rockland County District Attorney's Office has been a hallmark of his career. BALTIMORE, MD — In the early hours of June 15, 2024, at approximately 1:54 a.m., Baltimore Police officers responded to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Franklin Street and St. Paul Place. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle that had collided with a utility pole.
The driver, a 38-year-old male, and the passenger, a 35-year-old male, were transported to a local hospital by medics. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The passenger remains in critical yet stable condition.
