New Castle Man Arrested After Shooting at McKeesport Cookout

MCKEESPORT, PA — County Police have apprehended Vance Sykes, a 30-year-old from New Castle, in connection with a violent shooting that occurred on May 26 at 7:03 PM in McKeesport. The incident took place in the 100 block of Marshall Drive during a cookout, following a verbal altercation that escalated dramatically.

Upon arrival, first responders found one male victim inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds to his leg and lower abdomen; he was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition. A second male, later identified as Vance Sykes, was found nearby also suffering from gunshot injuries.

Witnesses at the scene told detectives that the confrontation between Sykes and the first victim led to Sykes pulling out a gun and firing multiple shots.

Sykes was arrested on May 31 in New Castle and is now facing charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and illegal possession of a firearm. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to piece together the details of the shooting.
