Utica Police Arrest Man for Menacing with a Knife on Court Street

UTICA, NY – On May 30th, Utica Police responded to a call regarding a disorderly individual menacing people with a knife on the 400 block of Court St. The incident was reported around 1:00 PM after a victim was threatened during an argument.

The victim informed officers that the suspect had brandished a knife, threatened his life, and made several slashing gestures. Following the threat, the victim immediately contacted the police, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.

Police conducted an area search and located the suspect a short distance from where the incident occurred. He was taken into custody without further issues, and the knife was found on his person. After being positively identified by the victim, Vincent Groszek, age 35, of Utica, was charged with menacing in the first degree, due to a previous conviction, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. Groszek was then transported to the Utica Police Department for processing.
