Suspect Arrested in Millsboro Homicide

MILLSBORO, DE – Delaware State Police have apprehended 19-year-old Malachi Waters of Millsboro, Delaware, following a fatal shooting that occurred yesterday morning in Millsboro, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old man.

The incident took place at approximately 10:47 a.m. on June 4, 2024, on Saint Thomas Boulevard within the town limits of Millsboro. Responding officers from the Millsboro Police Department and Delaware State Police found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased is withheld pending family notification.

Following the shooting, Malachi Waters fled the scene in a vehicle. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit, requested to take over the investigation by the Millsboro Police Department, quickly identified Waters as the suspect. With the support of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, Waters was intercepted and arrested in Delmar, near the Delaware-Maryland line, after a brief pursuit.

Waters is currently in custody, and further details of the case are pending as the investigation continues.
