BOSTON, MA – The Boston Police Department and Massachusetts State Troopers, part of the Youth Violence Strike Force, arrested Juarez Sanders Jr., 23, from Boston, recovering a loaded firearm in the process.

The incident unfolded late Wednesday evening, following a 911 report of a fight and a person with a gun.

Officers and Troopers were patrolling near Harrison Ave. and Massachusetts Ave. around 9:54 PM when they responded to a call about a suspicious person seen with a firearm during a six-person fight at 16 Hammond St. The suspect, described over the radio, was later spotted wearing a fanny pack across his body on Massachusetts Ave.

As law enforcement approached, Sanders attempted to walk away, eventually discarding the fanny pack at the officers’ feet as they exited their vehicles. Upon inspection, officers found a silver Derringer with a pearl handle, loaded with one round of .22 caliber ammunition, inside the fanny pack. Sanders was taken into custody without further incident.
