ADELPHI, MD—A local construction worker from Prince George’s County has hit a major jackpot, winning an impressive $580,000 in the Maryland Lottery’s Multi-Match game. The fortunate event occurred in the drawing on May 30, making him the third of four jackpot winners for the year.

The winner, an Adelphi resident, checked his lottery tickets using a mobile app after leaving his job site and discovered he had matched all six winning numbers: 3, 5, 21, 31, 32, and 34. Opting for the cash option over the annuity, the winner expressed his astonishment at the windfall, stating, “I said, ‘Wow!’ I was very surprised.”

Still contemplating how to utilize his newfound wealth, the winner intends to continue playing Multi-Match. He purchased his winning $10 ticket at the Wawa on 9100 Riggs Road in Adelphi, which has earned the retailer a $1,000 bonus for selling a jackpot ticket between $500,000 and $1 million.

This win places him as the third successful jackpot claimant of the year and notably, the first in a sequence of back-to-back winners. The next winning ticket, still unclaimed, was sold just days later for the June 3 drawing at a Royal Farms in Glen Burnie.
