Arrest Made in East Village Slashing Incident

NEW YORK, NY — The New York City Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a violent assault that occurred last Thursday, June 6, at approximately 5:20 PM in front of 26 Astor Place, within the 9th Precinct. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Steven Johnson of 400 East 30th Street, New York, NY, is facing charges of attempted murder and assault.

The incident involved a 30-year-old male victim who was approached by Johnson and subsequently slashed in the back of the neck with an unknown sharp object. Following the attack, the victim was treated for a significant laceration to his neck and shoulder area and was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

Johnson was apprehended by police after a brief investigation. The motives behind the assault are still under investigation, and the NYPD continues to seek any additional information from the public regarding this case.
