NEW YORK, NY—A tragic incident at the Riu Hotel in Times Square has resulted in the death of 53-year-old Efrain Patino Guerra. The incident occurred on Monday, June 17, 2024, when Time Square Unit officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at 145 West 47th Street, located within the Midtown North Precinct.
Upon arrival, officers learned that Patino Guerra, residing at 40-35 Hampton Street in Queens, NY, had already been transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in critical condition.
He had been punched in the face by an unidentified male, causing him to fall and sustain severe injuries.
Ten days later, he died in the hospital from his injuries.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into the assault continues. The NYPD is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving this case.
