Yonkers Police Officer and K9 Partner Retire After Years of Service

Yonkers, NY – The Yonkers Police Department is celebrating the retirement of Police Officer Brian Bracken and his K9 partner, Socko.

Officer Bracken, a Yonkers native, retires after 17 years of dedicated service. He joined the Yonkers Police Department in 2006 following several years with the NYPD. Throughout his career, he served in the 3rd Precinct, the Emergency Service Unit, and the K9 Unit, earning numerous awards and commendations.

K9 Socko, Bracken’s partner, joined the department in February 2016. Donated by the Generoso Pope Foundation in memory of Detective Frank Fernandez, Socko was trained in both patrol and narcotics detection. Over his eight-year career, Socko performed hundreds of demonstrations for schools and youth groups.

The Yonkers Police Department extends its gratitude to both Officer Bracken and K9 Socko for their service and wishes them a happy and healthy retirement.
