by Breaking Local News Report

HYDE PARK, MA—A routine traffic stop by the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) led to the arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile for multiple firearm offenses. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 149 Wood Ave in Hyde Park.

The YVSF officers were patrolling Wood Avenue when they noticed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit with an expired registration. After initiating a traffic stop using emergency signals, officers approached the vehicle, identifying the driver and three passengers.

During the stop, a search revealed a North American Arms .22 caliber revolver concealed within the waistband of a 14-year-old passenger. The firearm, which had a defaced serial number and was loaded with five .22 caliber cartridges, led to the juvenile’s arrest on charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number. The suspect is expected to be arraigned on these charges.
