Man Kills Four Family Members, Himself Over Real Estate Disagreement at Family Home

SYOSSET, N.Y. — The Nassau County Homicide Squad is investigating a tragic incident in Syosset, where five people were found dead in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide. The incident occurred Sunday morning at a residence on Wyoming Avenue.

According to detectives, officers from the Second Precinct responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 11:58 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man outside the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Inside the residence, four other individuals were found deceased. A Nassau County Police Medic pronounced all five victims dead at the scene.

On Monday, police identified the shooter as Joseph Delucia, 59, of Syosset. Investigators say Delucia shot four members of his family before turning the gun on himself. The victims have been identified as Joanne Kearns, 69, of Tampa, Florida; Frank Delucia, 64, of Durham, North Carolina; Tina Hammond, 64, of East Patchogue, New York; and Victoria Hammond, 30, also of East Patchogue. Joanne Kearns, Frank Delucia, and Tina Hammond were siblings of the shooter, while Victoria Hammond was his niece.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not yet disclosed any potential motives behind the shootings. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding this devastating event.
