Indianapolis Man Arrested After Traveling to Maryland to Kill His Sister

BETHESDA, Md. — A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the homicide of his 37-year-old sister in Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Police. Devon Miller, of Tacoma Avenue in Indianapolis, was taken into custody Monday night after officers responded to a domestic-related incident.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, the police received a call reporting a suspicious situation at a residence in the 10500 block of Westlake Drive. Twenty minutes later, a second call reported a domestic disturbance at the same location.

Officers arrived to find Shanon Marie Barnett, Miller’s sister, unresponsive inside the residence. Authorities attempted to render aid, but Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miller was arrested without incident and is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the official cause of death.
