Poughkeepsie, NY – The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has intensified its efforts in investigating narcotic and dangerous drug dealers in Poughkeepsie. Agents recently executed multiple raids on Main Street, leading to crucial intelligence about narcotics sales occurring behind buildings between 453 and 458 Main Street.
The investigation led to the identification of 25-year-old Leonardo De La Cruz as a key suspect. According to officials, the Drug Task Force was able to purchase narcotics from De La Cruz in that location. On Saturday, they apprehended De La Cruz in the same area. Upon arrest, he was found in possession of a significant amount of fentanyl and crack cocaine, both packaged for sale.
The Drug Task Force stated that fentanyl and cocaine have caused the majority of overdoses in Dutchess County, including recent cases on Main Street. Following his arrest, De La Cruz was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, categorized as a Class B Felony, and in the 5th degree, a Class D Felony.
