Fatal Collision Near Georgetown Under Investigation

Georgetown, DE – Delaware State Police are probing a deadly two-vehicle accident that happened near Georgetown on Thursday, resulting in the death of one individual.

At approximately 2:33 p.m. on Thursday, a Peterbilt 567 roll-off container truck was heading west on Hardscrabble Road near Landfill Lane, while a Nissan Sentra was traveling east on the same road. According to an initial investigation, the Peterbilt made a left turn toward Landfill Lane, obstructing the Sentra’s path. The Sentra driver swerved right but collided with the Peterbilt’s front left side.

The Sentra’s 20-year-old driver, a man from Georgetown, Delaware, was transported to a local hospital where he died. Authorities are withholding his name pending family notification.

The Peterbilt’s driver, a 30-year-old from Seaford, Delaware, was not injured. Hardscrabble Road remained closed for approximately four hours during the site investigation and clearance.
