Akron, OH – Members of the Anti-Violence Bureau conducted a traffic stop at E. Archwood Avenue and Lily Street just before 6:00 p.m. on Thursday for traffic and equipment violations. The 16-year-old driver was cited for operating a vehicle without a valid license.
A 17-year-old male passenger attempted to flee the scene. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle with law enforcement, during which he allegedly struck an officer. A search revealed the teen was in possession of a loaded handgun and over 19 grams of suspected fentanyl.
The juvenile faces multiple charges, including Carrying Concealed Weapons, Improper Handling of Firearms inside a Motor Vehicle, Obstructing Official Business, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Trafficking in Drugs, Possession of a Fentanyl Related Compound, and Criminal Damaging.
Additionally, a 16-year-old passenger was detained after exiting the back seat. Officers discovered a loaded handgun with a 50-round magazine in a backpack next to his seat. He was arrested and charged with Carrying Concealed Weapons and Improper Handling of Firearms inside a Motor Vehicle.
