LONGVIEW, Wash. — Two Longview residents were found dead in their home on Halloween night in what authorities are describing as a domestic dispute that ended in fatal violence, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at around 6:05 p.m. on Oct. 31 after receiving a report of a shooting at a residence on the 4700 block of Olympia Way. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the bodies of Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz, 38, and Cecilia Robles Ochoa, 39, both deceased in the kitchen area.
The couple’s 11-year-old child, who was in another room at the time of the incident, called 911 after finding the bodies. The child, who was reportedly wearing earbuds and playing video games, did not witness the altercation, authorities said.
Autopsies confirmed that Alvarado Saenz died from multiple stab wounds to the chest, while Robles Ochoa suffered both gunshot and stab wounds. Investigators recovered a pistol and a knife from the scene. The firearm was later identified as a stolen weapon, missing from Alvarado Saenz’s workplace, though it was not reported as missing until after the incident.
Detectives said the evidence suggests both individuals engaged in mutual violence, though they could not determine a primary aggressor. Officials noted that Alvarado Saenz and Robles Ochoa had been experiencing relationship difficulties and were reportedly planning to separate.
“There is no evidence of any third-party involvement in this case,” the sheriff’s office stated in a press release. The agency also expressed appreciation for the support provided to the family by the Cowlitz County Chaplaincy during the investigation.
