According to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., the closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The impacted streets include 16th Avenue between Bergen Street and South 7th Street, and Fairmount Avenue between Springfield Avenue and 15th Avenue.
The event, which is set to begin at noon, will take place at CityPlex 12 Theaters, located at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Bergen Street. The annual distribution is expected to draw large crowds, with drivers advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes to avoid the affected areas.
Officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the event, which aims to assist families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday season.
The Newark Police Division also reminded the public to report any criminal activity by contacting the 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line, ensuring tips remain anonymous and potentially rewarding contributors.
Drivers are urged to prepare for delays as the city facilitates this holiday tradition.
