BRENTWOOD, Md. — A retired railroad employee from Washington, D.C., has once again struck it big playing Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax, winning $30,879 on a longshot bet. This marks his third significant Racetrax win, all of which have been claimed in Maryland.

The winner purchased the lucky ticket in early June at AJ Liquors on Bladensburg Road during a trip to Maryland for shopping. “I saw the Lottery sign so I went in to play Racetrax,” he said. Like always, he tucked the ticket into his wallet and continued his day, unaware of the prize it held. Hours later, he checked the results and discovered he had won nearly $31,000.

“It was a real shocker,” he told officials, describing the moment as even more surprising than his previous Racetrax wins. His two earlier prizes, both also from longshot bets, brought him to Baltimore to claim winnings in the past.

The longtime Racetrax player says the game remains his favorite whenever he purchases tickets in Maryland, adding that his recent success with longshot bets might influence his future strategies.

The D.C. resident plans to dedicate his latest winnings to his grandchildren’s education, ensuring that the prize will have a lasting impact on his family.
