Oscar Oberlino Gomez-Miralda Assaulted 5-Year-Old Girl, Captured on Mother's Nanny Cam Now Heading to Prison

MAYS LANDING, NJ — Oscar Oberlino Gomez Miralda, 43, of Atlantic City, was sentenced on Monday to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison for the first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a five-year-old girl, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The sentence, handed down on Dec. 2, requires Gomez Miralda to serve the full 25 years without parole under the Jessica Lunsford Act. He was also sentenced to seven years for endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct, which will run concurrently with the 25-year term. Upon release, he will be required to register under Megan’s Law and will face lifetime parole supervision.

The prosecutor’s office did not reveal any ICE detainers or immigration status for the subject.

An Atlantic County jury convicted Gomez Miralda in June of sexually assaulting the child in December 2022 at her home in Atlantic City. The assault came to light after the girl’s mother, suspicious of the defendant, placed a hidden camera in her daughter’s bedroom while she was at work.

Gomez Miralda, who was in a relationship with the victim’s mother and lived with the family at the time, was arrested following an investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit. Assistant Prosecutor Tiffany deGrandmaison led the case for the state.

This sentencing marks the culmination of efforts to bring justice for the young victim, ensuring that Gomez Miralda will not be eligible for parole until his sentence is fully served.
