WILMINGTON, Del. — A 58-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car while crossing Governor Printz Boulevard on Thursday evening, according to Delaware State Police.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 5:31 p.m. near Downing Drive. Authorities say the pedestrian was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of the roadway in an area without marked crosswalks or streetlights.
As the woman walked north across the roadway, she entered the path of a 2021 Tesla Model 3 traveling westbound and was struck. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Police are withholding her identity until her family is notified.
The Tesla’s driver, a 31-year-old man from Claymont, Delaware, was uninjured in the crash. The incident led to the closure of Governor Printz Boulevard for about three hours as investigators processed the scene.
State Police are continuing to investigate the crash and have not announced any charges.
