DUNDALK, Md. — A Baltimore County man got an early holiday surprise when he discovered he had won $50,000 on a Holiday Luck Doubler scratch-off ticket purchased at Quick Mart on Merritt Boulevard.
The loyal Maryland Lottery player, who prefers to remain anonymous, said he has a routine of taking his tickets home before scratching them. “I take my tickets home and put them in the drawer,” he said. When he finally scratched the $5 ticket, the message on the Maryland Lottery app confirmed his top-prize win. “I scanned it five times with my phone,” he said, stunned by his luck.
The Dundalk resident, who is no stranger to second-chance promotions but has never won a prize of this magnitude, visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore for the first time. He plans to use the winnings to pay bills and celebrate the holidays, sharing the news only with his significant other.
The Holiday Luck Doubler game, which launched in October, still has four $50,000 top prizes remaining, along with a range of prizes from $5 to $5,000. Non-winning holiday scratch-offs and FAST PLAY tickets are also eligible for the Maryland Lottery’s Holiday Cash Second-Chance Promotion, with weekly prizes of $5,000 to $100,000 available.
Quick Mart, the retailer that sold the winning ticket, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
