Fugitive captured in Maryland after fatal shooting in Southeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting earlier this month in Southeast Washington that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man.

The shooting occurred on Thursday, December 5, at approximately 5:16 p.m., in the 2000 block of Wade Road, Southeast. Responding officers found the victim, identified as Mark Odoms, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital by DC Fire and EMS but was later pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts.

On Monday, December 16, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 23-year-old Lamar Odoms of Southeast D.C. in Temple Hills, Maryland. Police said the arrest was made under a DC Superior Court warrant, and Odoms has been charged with second-degree murder while armed.

Authorities have not indicated whether the suspect and victim were related or if the crime was targeted.
