PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — The search for 29-year-old Alexis Schuler, a missing mother of three, ended in tragedy after her body was discovered hidden beneath the stairs of her boyfriend’s Capitol Heights home. Devontae Gray, 30, is now charged with her murder following a chilling confession to police.
Schuler was last seen on January 10, leaving her Southeast D.C. home with Gray. Surveillance footage captured the couple arriving at Gray’s house on Larchmont Avenue that evening. Over the following days, Gray was seen on camera moving construction materials such as cement, cinder blocks, and chemicals in and out of the house.
On January 19, detectives executed a search warrant at the home, where they discovered a plastic bin concealed beneath layers of concrete, drywall, and plastic wrapping under the stairs. Further investigation revealed blood evidence in the shower and other construction materials consistent with Gray’s recent activity.

During questioning, Gray admitted to killing Schuler during an argument. Police say he attempted to hide the crime by constructing a makeshift tomb inside his home. He was arrested the following day and now faces murder charges.
Schuler’s family, who reported her missing on January 14, described her as a devoted mother whose greatest wish was to return home to her three children.
