Off-duty NYPD school safety agent arrested for assault, child endangerment

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD school safety agent was arrested Friday evening in Brooklyn on charges of assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Rhonda Duranty, 52, was taken into custody at 8:55 p.m. within the confines of the 77th Precinct. Authorities have not disclosed details surrounding the incident or the nature of the alleged offenses.

The charges against Duranty include second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The NYPD has not yet commented on the arrest, and the investigation remains ongoing.
