JACKSON, N.J. — A young Lab/Golden Retriever/Hound mix named Sophie is now up for adoption at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, according to shelter staff.
Sophie, who is just under 2 years old and weighs under 50 pounds, was surrendered by her previous owner and is now looking for a new permanent home. Shelter officials describe her as a “sweet, playful, happy little girl” who has shown signs of nervousness in the shelter environment.
Although she previously lived with dogs and cats, Sophie reportedly did not get along well with other animals. Staff recommend she be adopted into a home where she is the only pet and with older children who can match her energy level.

Sophie is fully spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She has passed all behavioral assessments and walks well on a leash.
She is currently available for immediate adoption or rescue through any qualified 501(c)(3) organization.
Those interested in meeting Sophie can visit the shelter at 615 Freemont Ave. in Jackson, which is open daily from 1 to 4 p.m.
